Popular place which one need to make reservation. Be transported to old shanghai with the old Shanghai glam decoration. - Crab Roe Dish (small) - enough as taste for 4 adults - 2 xiao long bao - fried shen jian dumplings - 1 green vegetables Will only say its kind of overrated. Crab roe rice - good to taste once. The pork xiao long bao has a weird smell - ding tai fung's pork dumplings are way better. Suffice to make a visit in Shanghai to take photos and experience.

The crab roe over rice at Ren He Guan was very good, though it feels like a dish you can easily find elsewhere. To be honest, the entire restaurant feels like a bit of a tourist trap. The real standout of our meal was a beef dish we ordered—the texture was an incredibly unique mix of crunchy and tender, and the flavor profile was absolutely fantastic. The sliced pork belly, however, was a frustrating experience. Despite having a noon reservation, we were initially told it was sold out because they strictly limit their morning, lunch, and dinner allocations. Shockingly, toward the end of our meal, the waiter informed us they suddenly had some ready. We got two orders (one order is realistically enough for two people), but the portion sizes were quite small and underwhelming in flavor. Its only redeeming quality was that the meat was super tender. If I had to do it all again, I would just order the beef dish and the crab roe. Everything else is an easy skip!

I had a great dining experience at ren he guan restaurant. We did not know how to make a reso so we got in line at 10:45am for the queue. Honestly, the queue went by pretty quick and we were sat down by 11:19am. I thought every dish we ordered was fantastic. We got the drunken crab, we got this raw instead of cooked. We asked the restaurant and they said most people get it cooked, assuming more local Chinese people don’t really enjoy raw food. The raw crab was very tasty but I am personally an enjoyer of raw crab. We got the crab roe rice and I thought this was pretty tasty. We also got a kao fu because it was a Shanghai special. We ordered a braised pork belly and I loved the flavouring in this. We also got the stir fried eel and thought this was pretty good. Because we did a Dian ping da ka, we also got a free mango pudding on the house. This was an unforgettable meal and a very affordable Michelin restaurant.

this restaurant deserves a special shoutout for being the whole package: excellent quality and variety of food, beautiful ambience, and great service — all at a shockingly affordable price! yes, the wait is long (we waited 1.5h), but you can walk around a nearby mall while waiting for your turn. to our pleasant surprise, our party of 3 was allocated one of the VIP rooms which made the experience feel exclusive. plus, the staff tending to us, Molly, was polite and helpful, sharing ongoing Dian Ping promotions with us and helping us obtain the discount when there were some technical issues. every dish we ordered tasted like an upgrade of everything else we’ve had so far in Shanghai. we had zero misses here! some standouts: 1. drunken crab: the crab was genuinely so well-infused with wine we thought it might’ve been marinated for several days! it’s an acquired taste but especially worth trying if you enjoy wine. 2. xiao long bao: the soup was mildly sweet and piping hot, and the dumpling skin did not stick to the meat, which not many restaurants can achieve. Ren He Guan is peak Shanghai cuisine — once you’ve tried this, you’ve had them all 🤗

Dining at 人和馆 was a truly memorable experience that captured the essence of refined Shanghainese cuisine. Every dish we ordered was thoughtfully prepared, but a few stood out in particular. The 蟹黄粥 was absolutely incredible rich, creamy, and deeply flavorful, with the unmistakable umami of fresh crab roe infused into every spoonful. It felt both indulgent and comforting at the same time, a perfect balance that is not easy to achieve. The 东坡肉 was another highlight. It was beautifully braised, with a glossy caramelized exterior and a melt in your mouth texture. The fat and lean layers were perfectly proportioned, resulting in a juicy, tender bite that was neither too heavy nor overly sweet. The 水煎包 was also very well executed. Crisp on the bottom with a golden crust, yet soft and fluffy on top, each bun was filled with a savory, juicy filling that burst with flavor. Overall, 人和馆 delivers a polished and satisfying dining experience, showcasing classic dishes with excellent technique and depth of flavor. Definitely a place worth revisiting.
