We really enjoyed the atmosphere inside the captain bar. Nice views and nice audience.
Love this place! Great view from the patio of course. But to be honest, my favourite place is to be inside at the bar or at a table, just watching the people. A lot of people scrambling here desperate to be outside to look at the buildings, but I see it a little bit differently. The drinks in the food are outstanding and even better. The people and the Service are 10 out of 10. If you don’t get a table outside, just go inside and enjoy the evening. The buildings are outside waiting for you whenever you’re finished you can go walk the bund and see everything for as long as you want. Excellent management excellent staff.
The view at night out on the patio is breath taking the drinks a bit on the high price side. Food was not very inviting. Atmosphere is good. Sat at the bar for a bit while waiting for a table just wasnt impressed with anything I was watching and seeing.
Captain Bar in Shanghai is an absolutely amazing rooftop destination that offers one of the most iconic views of the Bund and the Lujiazui skyline. Located on the sixth floor of a historic building on Fuzhou Road, this spot manages to combine a nautical, sophisticated atmosphere with a relaxed vibe that makes it perfect for both sunset drinks and late-night gatherings. For the best experience, try to arrive just before sunset to watch the city lights flicker on across the river, providing a breathtaking backdrop for your evening. The service here is truly standout, and a special thanks goes to Joy and Elizabeth, whose professional and warm hospitality made the visit feel incredibly personal and memorable. The cocktail program is impressive, featuring creative signature drinks that are as visually stunning as they are delicious. Beyond the beverages, the food menu is surprisingly high-quality for a bar, offering a range of tasty options that pair perfectly with their craft infusions. It is a fantastic place to bring visitors or to enjoy a special night out in the heart of the city. Prior to arrival, it is important to know that this is a very popular spot, so making a reservation is highly recommended if you want a seat directly overlooking the river. The entrance is tucked away inside the Captain Hostel, so do not be deterred by the modest lobby; simply take the elevator up to the sixth floor to find the hidden gem. While the outdoor terrace is the main draw, there is also a stylish indoor area if the weather is less than ideal. Be aware that the bar can get quite lively and crowded on weekends, so those seeking a quieter conversation might prefer a weeknight visit. Also, keep in mind that as a premier rooftop location, the prices reflect the premium view and quality of service, so it is helpful to budget accordingly for a full evening of drinks and dining.
a great rooftop bar mainly known for its impressive views over Pudong, and it delivers on that promise. It is easy to find, clearly signposted, and located on the 6th floor with both stairs and a small elevator available. A nice touch is the small merchandise corner in the lobby and the world maps where guests can pin their country, which adds an interactive and memorable element. The atmosphere is warm and intimate inside, with dim lighting and good music, while the outdoor seating offers the best views. Staff were attentive and well organized, offering to move us outside as soon as a table became available, which happened surprisingly fast. Blankets were provided, and service remained smooth despite the bar being busy and tables being quite close together. Cocktail selection is strong. The Shanghai Colada was well presented and tasty, though slightly heavy on ice. Prices are on the higher side, but expected for a rooftop with such views and a mostly international crowd. Overall, a solid choice for a drink with a view and a memorable stop in Shanghai.
