Goodfellas

Goodfellas was even better than we expected. From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect—the atmosphere, the location, and the overall vibe made for a fantastic dining experience. The food was absolutely amazing, and the service was outstanding. They even went out of their way to prepare a dish that wasn’t on the menu because we were craving it, which really showed how much they care about their customers. Every dish was full of flavor, and the quality matched the exceptional service. If you’re looking for great Italian food, a beautiful setting, and a team that genuinely goes the extra mile, Goodfellas is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be back!
Fancy Italian place near the Bund in Shanghai. It’s a short walk from the viewing areas of the Bund over the river, so good place to go after seeing the lights turn on. The staff speak some of the best English I’ve encountered in China. As a celiac, it was great to eat here. The staff are aware of allergens, know what is appropriate on the menu and are happy to talk you through it, and seem to understand the necessity of using new water (e.g for the GF pasta) and other precautions to avoid cross contamination for celiacs. I got a Basil sour cocktail, and a GF Burrata risotto as my main. It looked like a lot of the menu could be made Gluten Free, and allergens are labelled across all the dishes very clearly. The food itself was expensive, but high quality, and felt authentic. The cocktail was great, and felt high quality as well. For desserts the main options seemed to be a Panna Cotta; or ice cream. I didn’t opt for these, but nice to have the options! Pizza and some of the other options on the menu cannot be made GF, but there was still significant variety that this didn’t matter too much! The storefront is off the main road, with the correct location showing on this app, as well as Apple Map and Amap. It even seems to be showing correctly on Google Maps which is rare for China. Worth checking out if you’re a celiac / Gluten Free / have any other strict allergen requirements, as it seems this is easily one of the top 5 places for GF in Shanghai as of May 2026.
An authentic place full of foreigners. Both the tables beside us had white people and one was even an Italian lady who introduced her Chinese friend to this place. One of the staffs was white too. Food wise the carpaccio had an interesting dressing. The oyster was fine and was better than expectation for a non-Gillardeau. Medium-rare steak topped with foie gras and truffles was so incredible that I kept eating from my dad’s portion hahahahah. The pasta was not satisfactory though but that could just be my part. It was too salty and the flour too thick thus chewy (I have never ordered this type of noodles before). Lots of drinks were available yet the wine mostly came from Italy and my father disliked that. Then again, these do not take away from the fantastic food available so I will not take away any score.
We were very much looking forward to the dinner at your restaurant, unfortunately we were totally disappointed. We ordered the lasagne and the 600gm tenderloin. The lasagne was a total failure. Poor balance between ragu filling and bechamel sauce. Way way way too much bechamel s sauce and hardly enough ragu filling. The pasta sheets were overcooked and soggy, the taste in the mouth was soft floury n starchy. We ordered medium rare for our tenderloin and it was more like rare please look at the picture. The red wine sauce was guey not even smooth, the flavoured oil whatever it is was pathetic. We saw the pizza ordered by the table next to us and it was a sad pizza, poor showing of an Italian pizza. The only thing that was good was the wine and the great service. We spent almost 1,400 yuan, totally not worth it. Highly recommend not to dine at Goodfellas.
