Really nice place to unwind and enjoy the view while having a bite to eat. Drinks were nice, the ood was lovely i would definitely recommend going atleast once. Only thing I'd say is the water was a bit pricey almost the same cost as a cocktail but other than that i will be visiting again
Underwhelming Food and Disappointing Service Mercato by Jean-Georges in Shanghai comes with high expectations, but my recent visit was far from spectacular. Overall, it was a highly disappointing experience on nearly every front. First and foremost, the hospitality was severely lacking. Throughout the meal, I felt largely ignored by the staff. It was difficult to shake the distinct impression that I was receiving substandard service simply because I did not look like a foreign tourist or expat. In a restaurant of this caliber, every guest should feel welcome and attended to, and that was not the case here. The culinary experience fared no better. Every dish we tried was aggressively over-salted, masking any nuanced flavors, and absolutely nothing stood out as memorable. Furthermore, it is incredibly baffling how an establishment billing itself as an Italian restaurant does not even feature spaghetti on its menu. To make matters worse, the pizza was remarkably poor. Rather than a freshly crafted, premium pie, both the texture and flavor profile tasted exactly like a frozen boxed pizza from a grocery store. Between the exclusionary vibe from the staff and the subpar, overly salty food, there is nothing spectacular about Mercato. I would not recommend it.
What a view this place has. Right across the most iconic shanghai pudong Huangpu river, at night the whole scene sets the vibe to this place. The food is impeccable. Simple comfort food. We had a nice simple meals although few of our initial selected dishes were sold out. I guess that what happens when the place is vibrant on a Tuesday night.
Had a gathering with a bunch of friends at Mercato, and it was such a great choice. The vibe is casual but still keeps that fine dining standard — so you feel comfortable, yet everything is done properly and with class. Perfect for catching up without feeling too formal. Service was tip top, very attentive and friendly throughout the night. The appetisers were nice, unique and really yummy — great for sharing. The mains were special as well, not your usual flavours, and you can tell there’s creativity behind the dishes. And please, never miss the desserts. Damn nice. Definitely the highlight to end the meal. The wine is a must-try too — specially collaborated with the restaurant and made in China, which makes it even more interesting. Overall, a really good place for gatherings, good food, good wine and good vibes. Will definitely come back again.
The Italian cuisine here is top-notch, and the service is highly professional. I tried the nine-course menu, and every dish was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The view of the Bund is fantastic, adding to the overall atmosphere. It was such a romantic and memorable dinner experience.
