Tour Description
Your day begins with hotel pickup for a comprehensive Nanjing tour at your preferred time. Known as the 'City of Emperors,' Nanjing’s Purple Mountain area contains several significant tombs, including those of Ming Dynasty founder Zhu Yuanzhang and Sun Yat-sen, the revolutionary leader.
Zhongshan Ling, at the foot of Purple Mountain, is the mausoleum of Sun Yat-sen, who ended over 2,000 years of imperial rule. It functions similarly to the Lincoln Memorial in the United States. Nearby, Xiao Ling is a vast UNESCO World Heritage site encompassing palaces, temples, and gardens around Zhu Yuanzhang’s tomb. This architectural complex influenced later Ming and Qing dynasty mausoleums.
Next, visit the Confucius Temple (Fuzimiao), originally built in the Song Dynasty. This temple complex reveals how Confucianism shaped Chinese education, governance, and social values.
Afterward, explore the Qinhuai River area, where local culture persists along pedestrian streets with shops and eateries. The river’s historic significance is reflected in literature and poetry. Optionally, take a traditional boat ride on the river to experience the illuminated night scenery.
The tour concludes with a hotel drop-off or optional return to Qinhuai River for evening activities.
