Description
Our calligraphy experience is designed to be both educational and hands-on, perfect for beginners and enthusiasts alike. Here's how the session flows:
1. Theory & Appreciation (15 minutes)
We begin with a short but engaging introduction to the art of Chinese calligraphy. You'll learn what calligraphy truly means, its core spiritual values, a brief history of its evolution, the essential 'Four Treasures of the Study' (brush, ink, paper, and inkstone), and how to appreciate the beauty of different calligraphic styles.
2. Hands-on Practice (60 minutes)
This is where the magic happens. Under the patient guidance of our instructor, you'll pick up a brush and practice writing strokes and characters. Whether you're holding a brush for the first time or honing your skills, you'll feel the rhythm and flow of this ancient art.
3. Take Home Your Own Creation
At the end of the session, you'll get to create a small keepsake piece of your own—such as a handwritten scroll, a decorative fan, or a couplet—to take home as a beautiful memory of your experience.
We can also teach you to write your own Chinese name, so you will receive a personalized Chinese name, carefully chosen based on the pronunciation and meaning of your original name.
It's not just a class—it's a journey into the heart of Chinese culture, with a personal souvenir crafted by your own hand.

She is a member of the Shanghai Calligraphers' Association, a council member of the Shanghai Sino-Foreign Culture and Art Exchange Association, and a certified instructor registered with the Chinese Calligraphers' Association.
