Originally a private garden built in the Ming Dynasty, Yu Garden is one of Shanghai’s most famous classical gardens. Constructed by Pan Yunduan, a high-ranking official, as a retreat for his father, the garden reflects the elegance and refinement of Jiangnan-style gardens. It was once considered the finest garden in Southeast China. With its intricate rockeries, tranquil ponds, and exquisite pavilions, Yu Garden showcases the delicate beauty of traditional Chinese architecture and landscape design.
