Description

Your day begins with hotel pickup by your private guide. First, stroll Xintiandi, where restored stone-gate townhouses sit beside contemporary cafés and boutiques. Here, your guide unpacks how these unique buildings shaped neighborhood life and how foreign concessions influenced the city’s growth. Next, continue to Tianzifang, a maze of narrow Shikumen lanes reborn as an arts district. Browse design studios, handicraft shops, and cozy teahouses while your guide shares tips for authentic souvenirs and quick snack stops. Then, step into the tranquility of Yu Garden, a 16th-century masterpiece of classical Chinese landscaping—graceful pavilions, dragon-topped walls, Taihu rockeries, arched bridges, and koi-filled ponds. Your ticket is included, so you can head straight in while your guide explains the symbolism behind structures and garden scenes. After the garden, enjoy free time for lunch in the surrounding bazaar. Although lunch is on your own, your guide will recommend street-food staples—think xiaolongbao (soup dumplings), scallion pancakes, pan-fried buns, or a quick bowl of hand-pulled noodles—based on your taste and dietary needs. After lunch, walk the famous promenade of The Bund. Admire a grand row of early-20th-century façades—former banks and trading houses—while across the Huangpu River the futuristic skyline rises in dramatic contrast. Your guide connects the dots between colonial-era finance and today’s global metropolis. Finally, cross to Lujiazui, Shanghai’s financial district. See icons such as the Shanghai Tower, Jin Mao Tower, and Oriental Pearl TV Tower. If you wish, you may add an observation-deck ticket on site (own expense) for sweeping 360° views; otherwise, enjoy curated photo angles at ground level before your hotel drop-off.
