Description

Begin your day with a convenient pickup from your accommodation in Shanghai. Relax on the drive to Suzhou, a city renowned for its classical gardens and water-town lifestyle. Arrive at the Humble Administrator’s Garden, one of China’s Four Great Classical Gardens. Stroll through its serene landscapes, featuring water features, pavilions, and oriental aesthetics. Enjoy the morning tranquility and admire the stained-glass reflections at Wuzhuyouju and the lotus pond view at the Hall of 36 Mandarin Ducks. Next, take a leisurely walk along Pingjiang Road, a historic water-town street lined with stone pavements and canals. Immerse yourself in the local culture as you observe residents continuing daily traditions like washing clothes by the river. For lunch, ask your guide to recommend or pre-book a restaurant, or try authentic Suzhou street food along Pingjiang Road. Sample local delicacies like Yaba Shengjian (pan-fried buns), Meiyuexuan Plum Blossom Cake, and Suzhou Noodles. Continue to Hanshan Temple, established in the 6th century and one of China’s top 10 temples. Participate in optional Zen activities such as striking the giant bell or copying Buddhist scriptures. Visit the Suzhou Pingtan Museum to explore Suzhou’s traditional storytelling art form through exhibits of instruments, costumes, and live recordings. End your day with a visit to Shantang Street, a thousand-year-old riverside street. Take a boat ride, listen to live Pingtan, sip local tea, and enjoy the lively Jiangnan night atmosphere.
