Description

Begin your day with a pickup from your hotel in Shanghai by our driver. Head to the Shanghai Hongqiao High-Speed Rail Station. Board a comfortable high-speed train for a 1.5-hour journey to Nanjing. Upon arrival, meet your local guide and driver at the Nanjing High-Speed Rail Station. If your travel day is not Monday, then start your day with a visit to the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum. Walk up 392 steps, overlook the city view of Nanjing, and listen to your guide talk about Mr. Sun Yat-sen's revolutionary journey and the ingenuity of the architectural design. If your trip falls on Monday, then you can visit the Meiling Palace, once the residence of Chiang Kai-shek and Soong May-ling. Follow your guide to gain an in-depth understanding of the life stories of the upper class in the Republic of China. Lunch is no included, but when you want to eat let your tour guide know, guide will suggest local restaurant for you to enjoy Nanjing style of cuisine at your own cost. In the afternoon, climb Zhonghua Gate, known as 'the largest and best-preserved fortress style city gate existing in China'. Walk on the Ming Dynasty city wall with a history of more than 600 years, and listen to your guide explain the ancient city defense system and the wisdom of craftsmen in the Ming Dynasty behind the inscriptions on the city wall bricks. Then, move on to the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, a World Cultural Heritage site. Admire the characteristic stone carvings such as stone elephants and stone camels along the Sacred Way, learn about the site selection and layout of the joint mausoleum of Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty, and Empress Ma, and feel the grandeur of the imperial mausoleums of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Finally, visit the Confucius Temple. At the Confucius Temple, you can see the Dacheng Hall dedicated to Confucius, the ancient-style Mingyuan Tower, as well as traditional streets and shops along the Qinhuai River. Here, you can learn the core ideas of Confucian culture, understand Confucius' life story and educational philosophy, and also experience the architectural style of Nanjing during the Ming and Qing dynasties and the historical and cultural charm of the Qinhuai River area. After the tour, head back to the Nanjing High-Speed Rail Station. Take the high-speed rail back to Shanghai, and upon arriving at Hongqiao High-Speed Rail Station, your driver will be waiting for you at the South Exit and safely take you back to your hotel in Shanghai
